back to work
I'll be honest. I've actually been back from my vacation for well over a week. Fortunately or unfortunately, I returned to Philadelphia only to be inundated with work, both planned and unplanned. I am always grateful for work, as I know so many people who are struggling to find satisfying work in their field, or simply any work at all. Still, it was a challenge to go from strolling the perfectly manicured cobblestone streets of Charleston to hustling to teach early art morning classes in the grimy city heat. The abrupt transition has left me exhausted. (I'll be sharing more pictures from our Southern adventures shortly!)
Most of my work this summer, however, is through The Mural Arts Program, where I teach art and mural-making skills to high school youth. Right before I left on my trip, our Art Education department was featured on the Today Show on NBC! It's an inspiring watch, especially since art is quickly disappearing from the public school system at a detrimental speed. So while I may be sleepy on my way to work in the morning, it's a pretty powerful gig that I love.
